SelfDefense For Modern Times eBook Ingo Weigel

As a lifetime student of the martial arts, this book turned out to be a big disappointment. The title suggests a new and innovative approach to self-defense training. This book turned out to merely be an advertisement for the Revat self-defense system, which appears to be based upon the Chinese Wing Chun system. This review is not a criticism of Wing Chun or the Revat system, because it is well known that they are effective combat systems. However, this book claims this is a "new and modern" self-defense system can be debated.
Here is a few of the sections covered in this text:
The reality of self-defense section covered some basic observations. What is Revat section was not clear until I looked up the video clips and realized it is merely Wing Chun system with a new name. The psychology of self-defense was lacking substance. The basic principles of Revat were interesting. The Revat system and traditional martial arts training was informative. I was not impressed with the self-defense and weapons section and disagreed with its view on weapons like knives and firearms. It is clear the Revat system does not like guns. Personally, even though I believe the mind is the most powerful weapon, I also love weapons of all kinds for self-defense. The science behind Revat had some valid points, but was short on real scientific research methods. The final section explains where you can get more information of Revat. I respect all the martial arts and think there is some value in any type of self-defense training, but you would be better off taking an introductory course in Revat rather than reading this book of advertisement for the system.
In conclusion, this manual was obviously written in hopes of getting more Revat students. I suggest looking at the video clips available on the web to get a clearer picture what Revat training is all about and you can better decide whether or not to take up this system.

SelfDefense For Modern Times eBook Ingo Weigel Reviews

After reading this book, I needed some time to think about it. It has a unique and interesting approach to martial arts and its value today. I wish there would be more pictures in this book.

I like it and recommend it.
As a former student of Dia-Sihing Ingo for almost 2 years. He knows what he's talking about. I was a student of other Martial arts (Hapkido, judo and TKD). After years of these other disciplines, I felt more comfortable after 1 year of EBMAS Wing Tsun. Now after 3 years (and counting) of studying the (EBMAS) Wing Tsun system REALISTIC street fighting scenarios seem clearer. I recommend the book to seasoned Martial arts practitioners to newcomers. Simply because the comparisons to other disciplines are valid and realistic. Just keep an open mind while reading this book and let it soak in!!!
I really enjoyed reading this book. It's a great primer in Wing Tsun. There is a mirage of information in this book from history to training to practical self-defense applications of Wing Tsun.

Just recently, I began training in Wing Tsun. The more I am learning, the more I pick up this book again and again. It seems that the more I experience Wing Tsun, the more information this book reveals to me.

I liked it so much that I felt compelled to write a review!
I'm grateful for this book. I believe it is something every person should have in order to obtain the confidence that isn't just a surface expression, but deep rooted in "knowing" what to do when defense is needed and most important-- and that is in "the real world." It's great to know there are people out there who not only master what it is they do, but write about it and share it with others. Thank you for writing this book and sharing it with the world!
This book basically explains what Revat is and why it's a good option for self-defense. This isn't a Karate manual showing you special moves or teaching you how to fight. It's more like a seminar, but in book form. After you read the book, you can then decide if Revat is something you want to pursue.

The author also has some videos on Youtube so you can see Revat in action. He also gives you his contact information and/or invites you to his private gym to learn more. I like this book, and the author is responsive through Twitter and or email.

The author clearly knows what he's talking about, and I'm 90% sure I'm going to join his gym to practice some "real life" applications using Revat.
